ST. PETERSBURG, FL / ACCESSWIRE / September 8, 2022 / With California's power grid under extreme stress due to record high temperatures and surging demand, officials have asked drivers of electric vehicles to not charge them during peak periods. While temperatures are predicted to moderate later this week, scientific studies indicate that extreme weather events such as heat waves are likely to become more frequent. While adding capacity to deal with climate change can take decades, off-grid charging solutions can help ease reduce demand.

EAWD (OTCQB:EAWD) is a pioneer in solar powered, electric vehicle charging solutions. Their off-grid charging stations are being deployed across Europe. Each charging station is capable providing Level 3 DC fast charging to electric cars, SUVs and semi-trucks. EAWD is currently working with the German Government and a nationwide chain of service stations to deploy as many as 200 of their charging stations to allow for easy travel anywhere in the country.

With headquarters in St. Petersburg, Florida, EAWD is making plans to deploy these systems in the United States to help reduce carbon emissions with its solar technology. "Our technology is ready to go today and can help take pressure off regional energy grids by providing carbon-free, fast charging solutions for thousands of cars per day." Said Irma Velazquez, CEO of EAWD. "We are deeply concerned about the challenges that climate change together with the uncertainty of the ongoing geopolitics tensions are creating for our energy and water supply. They are jeopardizing the sustainability of the economies and our environment. We have developed a solution that can reduce the stress in the grid and the impact to our environment, while increasing access to sustainable energy supply for EV charging stations."

BERLIN (Reuters) -BMW will power its new class of electric vehicles to be released in 2025 with cylindrical battery cells made in six factories by partners including China's CATL and EVE Energy as the carmaker looks to speed up charging and extend driving range. The German carmaker has already placed multibillion-euro orders with CATL and EVE to produce battery cells at four factories in China and Europe, it said on Friday, adding it was seeking partners able to build two more factories in the United States and Mexico. BMW said it would sign contracts for up to 20 gigawatt hours of capacity at each of the six plants.

Water has become a popular topic these days, given widespread drought conditions around the globe and the water crisis in Jackson, Miss. That doesn’t translate into an automatic win-win when it comes to investing in the sector.

Batteries are one of the most expensive components of electric vehicles (EVs). To bring the cost of EVs down, improving battery technology and reducing the expense of their manufacturing will be key. Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) is trying to do just that, according to experts interviewed for an article published by Reuters this week -- but it hasn't been easy.

The California Independent System Operator (ISO), grid operator for most of the state, said consumer conservation efforts so far this week have been key to helping the grid avoid rotating outages. Demand for power in the ISO hit an all-time high on Tuesday while prices for Tuesday and Wednesday hit two-year highs before dropping for Thursday. The ISO wants consumers to conserve energy during the late afternoon hours when the sun goes down and solar power stops working.

(Reuters) -California officials on Thursday said Amplify Energy Corp agreed to plead no contest to six criminal charges and pay nearly $5 million in penalties and fines in connection with a crude oil spill last year that killed birds and fouled beaches. The announcement was the latest legal effort to hold the Texas-based oil company accountable for a subsea pipeline leak that released some 558 barrels (25,000 gallons) of crude oil into the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Huntington Beach in southern California in October of last year. At a news conference broadcast live on the internet, California Attorney General Rob Bonta and Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer said the company had repeatedly turned off and on the 17-mile-long pipeline when it was alerted to the leak.
