The province's contract with FLO, with which it has worked since 2013, marks the company's largest to date
EVs in Quebec just received a jolt of support via a collaboration between Hydro-Québec, owner of the Electric Circuit EV charging network; and FLO, creating the most powerful contract for the latter to date.
Working in parallel since 2013, FLO has provided Hydro-Québec with nearly 4,500 EV chargers across the province, a blend made up of around 3,800 Level 2 chargers and 700 Level 3 chargers. No wonder EVs are such a bit hit in La Belle Province.
“FLO chargers are hailed across North America for being especially robust, reliable, and durable. It’s been almost a decade since FLO and Hydro-Québec started working together to electrify Quebec and expand EV charging infrastructure, helping to improve accessibility and ensure drivers have reliable charging experiences,” said Louis Tremblay, FLO’s President and CEO.
“This latest victory is a vote of confidence in FLO’s products and services, and we look forward to offering our continued support to Hydro-Québec in its endeavors to accelerate the electrification of transportation, not only for another 10 years, but for many more years to come.”
“Providing Quebeckers and visitors alike with thousands more stations where they can charge their vehicles on the go at thousands of convenient locations is at the heart of Quebec’s plan to electrify our community,” France Lampron, Director of E-Mobility at Hydro-Québec, was quoted in a press release. “As a clean energy transition leader, Hydro-Québec is very proud of this major leap in the right direction towards making our community cleaner and transportation more environmental-friendly.”
The allocation of the 7,500 Level 2 chargers in FLO’s contract include about 3,000 public curb-side chargers along Quebec roads; some 2,000 to charge Hydro-Québec’s fleet; and then 2,500 for other locations, such as businesses and municipalities.
